VAC high quality trident metal reel for reel-to-reel tape recorders could any day stand alongside the best offered by the industry, and often beat most of them at their own game. 
 

Structural strength, stability, and dynamic performance are at the core of a good reel design. The hubs, perhaps the most critical part, are precision machined to ensure great accuracy and balance. It also features an innovative nano-machined surface. This special surface is designed to grip the end of the tape making it far less prone to slipping, which in turn makes threading the tape quick, easy, and stress-free. This innovative screw-less design further increases the strength of the reel, while at the same time improving dynamic balance.

 

The flanges are strong and resist bending, warping, and eliminate scratching to a great extent. Their rigidity and dynamic balance enable them to spin truer at any speed, and consequently reduces mechanical wear and tear, and contribute to better sound free of wow and flutter.

 

We were equally mindful of ease of use while designing the flange cut-outs (or ‘windows’). Many reels in the market have cut-outs that become very narrow near the hub. We crafted a space large enough for two fingers so that, when threading the tape, holding the tape end against the hub is easier than ever. Additionally there is a slot which is provided to insert the tape into for easy hold and rotate the tape during threading.
